Psalms 37:4

“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

Not only does God give us the desires of our heart but he fulfills the very desires that he gives us.  If he left it up to us most of our desires would go unfulfilled.  God wants us to have our wants and needs fulfilled.  This is why he gave us Jesus Christ. Romans 8:32 says, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things.”

However, providing is not the best part of our relationship with God.  He provides because he knows just like any Father that as children we are not able to do it for ourselves. Have you ever seen a two year old provide his own milk? We are and will always be our Father’s children and he will always provide for us we have Jesus as our guarantee.  John 13:14 says, “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.”

Therefore, since we don’t have to worry about providing for ourselves we are free to do as the psalmist says “delight thyself in the Lord.”  We get to explore him and discover him and do as Mary did sit at his feet and hear his words anytime, anyplace and anywhere. God doesn’t want us to wait until we get to heaven to enjoy him he wants us to enjoy him right now.  This is the best part of our relationship with the Father that we get to delight ourselves in him because he is delightful.
