Romans 5:17
“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”
2011 has been declared by God to be a year of His abundance and crowned goodness, but unless you use the power that He has given you to subdue and dominate in your land you won’t experience that abundance. It’s not that God is not pouring it out but it’s that you are not ruling over what’s coming in.
When the children of Israel were to go into the promise land, God told them to utterly destroy the inhabitants of the land. The land was a land flowing with milk and honey, houses and vineyards, filled with all good things. But they would not be able to enjoy all those good things until they first destroyed the inhabitants of the land and take possession. In other words they had to subdue and dominate but if Israel failed to do so they would be subdued and dominated and what they failed to destroy would destroy them.
But as new covenant believers Christ has destroyed the enemy for us. 1 John 3:8 says, “…for this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” And Colossians 2:15, “and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” It’s through the victory of Christ that we have the power to subdue and dominate in life. Christ has given us back what Adam gave away, the power to reign.
But just as Israel had to dominate or be dominated. We too must use Christ to dominate or be dominated. If not, we will not enjoy the good of the land. Not that we don’t have it but we won’t enjoy it. For example, temperance is a fruit of the Spirit, it is Christ in us. It’s through his temperance that we rule over wasteful spending in our lives. The enemy that causes wasteful spending has been destroyed, Christ did that on the cross and when we stop using our own efforts to control our spending and rest in his temperance, wasteful spending is defeated in our lives. And what happens when we are not spending foolishly, we see the increase of the land. We enjoy the good of the land because we are not giving all our money to our debtors and we are able to be a blessing in the kingdom of God. But we must allow Christ to work through us, because it’s his life that gives us power over the enemy.
Therefore, since the enemy has been destroyed and the land is ours, lets use the power that God has given us to rule over the works of his hands. Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God His life is our power to reign.
