A Few Facts About Power

authority, dominate, Force, Live; Reign, power, Rule, subdue

1 Corinthians 1:24

“But unto them which are called both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”

Did you know that everything in life requires power?  Whether it’s power in the sense of authority or power in the sense of force everything in life requires power to operate.

Did you know that for God to create the world He had to use power? And did you know that there is no other power above the power of God?  But do you realize that the same power that God used to create the world is living in you?

The power of God is a person and that person is Jesus Christ and He has a voice.  Hebrews 1:3 says “Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when he had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.”  Therefore, the power of God speaks.  All things are upheld by the word of His power or all things are upheld by Christ the power of God because He is the Word of God.

Why did God give us His power? He gave us His power so that we can reign in life.  “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” Through Christ God has given us power in authority and in force to subdue and dominate on earth.  Christ being the power of God is above every other power and He never stops working.  1 John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”  Greater is the power of God working for you than the power of the enemy working against you.

Now for my final question, what are you doing with all this power? There are no limits.

The Hand That Binds Is The Hand That Takes

 I Samuel 5:4

“And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of this hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.”

In 1 Samuel 4 and 5 we read the account of the ark of the Lord being taken by the Philistine army.  They took the ark and brought it up to Ashdod and placed it in the house of Dagon and set it by Dagon their god.  But when they arose early the next morning Dagon was fallen upon his face.  They pick him up and placed him back in his place again.   The next morning they rose up early and found Dagon fallen to the ground again before the ark of the Lord but this time with his head and both the palms of his hands cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left.

The scripture tells us that the Philistines took the ark of the Lord to Ashdod.  Ashdod means to ravish. They took the ark of the Lord to Ashdod so that they could ravish what belonged to the people of God and they placed the ark in a secret place until they were ready to ravish it.  However, when they rose up on the second morning (the first was a warning) Dagon’s head and palms were cut off.  The head represents the authority and the palms represent its ability to bind and take.   God let it be known to Israel enemies that they could not hold, bind or ravish what belonged to them.

The devil may have taken something that belonged to you and placed it in his secret place, and he may be ravishing through what is yours right now.  Don’t fret because the same way God cut off the head and palms of the Philistine’s god He has cut off the head and palms of satan for us.  Through the blood of Jesus Christ, the devil’s head and palms has been cut off he no longer has any authority or right to bind us and no ability to take what belongs to us.

Jesus has given us the keys to the kingdom and the power and authority is in our hands to bind and loose what belongs to us.  Matthew 16:19  says, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”   We can bind those things that the devil uses to block and stop us and loose those things that belong to us.  The hand that binds is the hand that takes.
