Hebrews 11:17-19

“By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Issac; and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son.  Of whom it was said, that in Issac shall they seed be called; Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence and he received him in a figure.”

God gave Abraham a promise that in Issac his seed would be called and Abraham believed God.  Even when God told Abraham to take this same son in whom He said in him would his seed be called and offer him upon a mountain in Moriah Abraham believed God.   The scripture says that Abraham believed that God was able to raise Issac up even from the dead.  In other words Abraham knew that Issac could not die until the promise was fulfilled.

The promises of God are indestructible, and Issac was a promise child just as Jesus was a promise child.  All hell came against Him to destroy Him but the promise is indestructible.  Jesus said in John 10:17-18, “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.  No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself.  I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.  This commandment have I received of my Father.”

Every promise that God has given to you are indestructible, they cannot die.  It doesn’t matter how much adversity surrounds the promise it shall live and not die.  Hold on to the promises of God for they shall come to pass.  Even though God had given Hagar a promise concerning Ishmael, when adversity arose and it looked as though Ishmael would die, she turned her back on the promise (Gen. 21:15-16).  But the angel of the Lord spoke to her and said “…What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is” (Gen. 21:17).  God was saying to Hagar I gave you a promise.  He then gives her instructions in verse 18  that would change her life forever, “Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.”  In other words, I will perform the word that I’ve spoken out of my mouth.

What has God said concerning your life? Have you forgotten or dismissed the promise of God over your life because of adversity?  The promises of God are indestructible.  Do as God told Hagar, arise, lift up the promise and hold on to it for it shall surely come to pass.  It cannot die.
