Joshua 1:8″

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

Success is not something we gain, success is something we’ve been given.

However, does this mean that we don’t do anything?  No, of course not.  This means that God is letting us know the ending from the beginning.  This means that whatever God has told you to do, He has promised you success in doing it.  This is why we don’t give up because success has already been given.  It would be unjust for God to tell us to do something knowing that we might fail.  Imagine Jesus saying “lay hands on the sick and they might recover and they might not.”  Do you think the disciples  would have wanted to lay hands on the sick if they knew there was a possibility of the sick not recovering? Would you?   No, Jesus said “…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they SHALL recover” (Mark 16:18).  God tells us to do a thing, gives us the ability to do it and guarantees our success in doing it.

After Moses’s death Joshua was afraid and he lacked the courage he needed to lead the people of Israel over into their promise land.  However, God reassured Joshua by saying “there shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee; I will not fail thee nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage for unto this people shalt thou divde for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them” (Joshua 1:5-6).  God told Joshua what to do, gave him the ability to do it and guaranteed his success.

The world works to get success, we work because we’ve been given success.   Even when it looks like you’re not succeeding, maybe a door has closed, or maybe you were going in a direction and you’ve had to change course and start in a another, God is with you.  He told Joshua “…for the lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9).  Because  He has guaranteed you success He is leading and guiding you into that success.

God gave us success when He gave us Jesus for without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5).
