If laughter is good medicine then we all should be taking a hefty dose. When was the last time you really laughed? If you have to search for the answer it’s a good sign that you haven’t been taking your medicine. Here are a few benefits of laughter that I’ve discovered happens to me when I laugh. They might help you to laugh more often as well.
Laughter relieves stress
When you’re feeling stressed laughing helps you to release stress. Even if you can’t think of anything funny try laughing as an exercise and pretty soon you’re be laughing for real even if it’s at yourself for laughing at nothing.
Laughter is a energy booster
Because laughing is an exercise it releases endorphins that not only make you feel better but gives you an energy boost as well.
Laughter keeps you healthy
Since laughter relieves stress it keeps you healthy because stress is the root of almost all sicknesses and diseases. Healthy people are not stressful people.
Laughter helps you to stay focused
Again, the endorphins that laughing releases helps keep the mind sharp which helps you to stay focused on your visions and goals.
Laughter is a sign of victory to the enemy
When I laugh at the devices the enemy uses to distract me, it lets him know I know who I am in Christ and I know what Christ has done for me. It says I know he is defeated and I am victorious. Job 5:22 says “At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh; neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.”
Laughter is contagious
Whenever I’m discouraged and around people that are laughing I find that it flows off on me. It might start with a smile and then a question, “What are you laughing about? But before I know it, I’m laughing and they didn’t even tell me why.
