Joel 2:23

“Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God; for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain in the first month.”

God knows how to give us rain.  When the earth is dry, He sends the rain and after the rain He sends the sun, and after the sun, He sends the harvest.  Rain and sun will cause any seed to produce.

Jesus is our rain and He is the Son of the living God.  When God gave us Jesus He not only rained upon us but He shined upon us with the light of His Son.  Think about this, when the children of Israel where in the middle of the wilderness, a place where they could not go to the local market and buy bread to eat, God caused it to rain down manna from heaven which was a foreshadow of the bread of life that would rain down upon us.  Jesus said “…I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst” (John 6:35).

Therefore, with Jesus being our rain and sun (because He is the light of the world John 1:4) we can expect an abundant harvest.  The prophet Joel said because of the rain that would come down which is Jesus, that our floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil and all things would be restored to us and we shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord our God, that hath dealt wondrously with us and we shall never be ashamed (Joel 2:24-26).  Praise the Lord!  Jesus is the seed, He’s the rain and He is the Son.  God has rained down His Son and given us an abundant harvest!

God Knows Your Name

Exodus 33:17

“And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken; for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.”

It doesn’t matter how many children you may have you know each one by name.  Even if you have more than one child and you confuse the name of one child with the name of other, still you know each of your children by name.  Likewise, God knows each of us by name but unlike us He will never forget or get us confused with one another.

When God called Moses out of the burning bush He called Him by name because He knew Moses, Moses was His child.  And here God says to Moses “I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken; for thou has found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.” Simply because Moses found grace in God’s sight and God knew him by name God would show Moses His glory.

For the very same reasons God will do the things that we’ve asked Him to do because He has given us His grace and we are His children and He knows us by name.  Matthew 7:11 says “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?

The grace of God is Jesus Christ, it is because of His finished work that we are the sons and daughters of God, that He calls us by name and we call Him Father.  Therefore, whatever you ask for He will do it.
