Having The Right Perspective

II Corinthians 4:17
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

A telescope is something that is used to bring an object closer to view. However, in other to see that object you must look through the small end of the telescope. At first glance it might appear that looking through the larger end would give you better results but not true. Looking through the larger end of the telescope makes the object so large that you don’t get the full picture. Likewise, when we focus our attention on the sufferings and afflictions that we must endure for the sake of the gospel, we’re looking through the wrong end of the telescope. Therefore, we’re not getting the full picture we’re not seeing the glory that awaits us.

I Peter 4:12 says “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”

Listen, he’s not just talking about His glory when Christ returns but His glory right now that awaits us on the other side of every affliction and persecution we face. As a matter of fact that’s why we face them because of the word of God (Matt. 13:21).

When we focus our eyes upon Jesus we see that His glory out weights any affliction that we might endure. Focusing our attention upon Jesus puts things in the right perspective. Therefore, rejoice because if you are a partaker of Christ’s sufferings you are a partaker of His glory.

Enough Is Enough

happiness, joy, trouble

John 16:33
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.  In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Jesus Christ came into this world to die for our sins and give us his eternal life.  He told us that we would have tribulations in this world but he also said be of good cheer because he has overcome the world.  Therefore we should be of good cheer everyday of our lives no matter what is going on.  It doesn’t matter if times are good or if you are experiencing some kind of crisis you can be of good cheer.

At some point in every believers  life you have to say enough is enough either I am going to believe God or not.   Our lives should not be this emotional roller coaster where we are of good cheer when things are good and down when things are bad.   I don’t believe that we should be so easily moved.  Psalms 125:1 says “they that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.”  We are believers and that makes us unmovable.  We don’t have to be moved by the things that we experience in this world; Jesus Christ has overcome the world.  Everything that you and I would experience in this life Jesus Christ has overcome it.  So don’t worry, don’t fear be of good cheer.

You are already a believer, you don’t have to try and believe,  just stand on what you already believe; Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God.  He is greater in you than he that is in the world (I John 4:4).

Be Still And Know

God, help, refuge, safe place, trouble

Psalms 46:10

“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

God is our refuge, our safe place our very present to help in times of trouble. When we think of a refuge and safe place we tend to think of a place that we have to run to. But as children of God we don’t have to run to the house of refuge, we live in the house of refuge. God is our refuge, our safe place our very present help because we are in him and he is in us.

When things of this earth are shaken and moved out of place, when the mountains, those things that we thought were safe and secure are being removed and carried into the midst of the sea, there is no need for us to fear because we are in the house of refuge. Psalms 91:7 says, “a thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.” Nothing has the power to penetrate or overthrow the house of refuge.

So listen, stop screaming and running around the house thinking that what’s on the outside can get in; be still and know that he is God and that you are in the house.
