Sunrise on Alaska MountainThe word that God gave me for this year is Trust.  Throughout this year God wants us to trust Him.  I know we say that we trust God but when the rubber meets the road do we really trust God to see us through?  Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths.” God wants us to lean on Him. Think about that.  The Almighty God has invited us to lay back and rest in Him; to lay back and rest in His wisdom, His provision, and His protection.  He wants us to trust that He knows how to get us through the hard times and sustain us in the good times.

When you lean on something you’re releasing all your strength and efforts to what or who you are leaning on.  Think about that.  Why struggle using your own earthly wisdom when we have Christ who is the Wisdom of God (I Cor. 1:24)?  Trusting God means you allow Him to be who He is in your life.  You allow Him to be your wisdom, provision, protection and whatever else you need Him to be.  So to help you I’ve listed three good reasons why you can trust God:

1)      He’s God.  Numbers 22:23 says, “God is not a man that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent; hath He said, and shall he not do it? Or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?”  Enough said.

2)      He’s trustworthy.  Joshua 23:14 says “And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth; and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the Lord our God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.”

3)      He will never leave you.  Hebrews 13:5-6 says, “…for He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.  So that we may boldly say, “the Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

Even through the toughest times God will always remain faithful to His word.  He’s God, you can trust Him.  This year determine in your heart and mind that you’re going to lean on God with everything that concerns you life.

Hey there!

I missed you guys last week and I’m glad to be back here on the blog! You all are greatly loved.

Well, we have two more weeks to go before we’re done with our challenge.  How have you been during? I pray that you’ve been allowing the Holy Spirit to work in your life. As I’ve mentioned before, the choice is ours whether to yield to leading of the Holy Spirit or to continue in our own efforts.  Fruits are produced by the vine but the branch has to give way for the fruit to come forth.  So let’s continue to yield to the Spirit of God within us.

Okay, let’s talk about this week challenge.  This week we are going to challenge ourselves in the fruit of Faith.   The first thing that catches my eye is that faith is a fruit, which means faith is not something that we earn but it’s what’s produced in us by the Holy Spirit.  All of the fruits of the Spirit represent the life of Christ in us.  So faith is Christ is us.  Romans 1:17 says, “For there in is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”  In other words we live by Christ in us.  Not by our efforts, but by totally relying on His life in us.  Just hanging on the vine and allowing the fruit of faith to come forth.

Now, I know some of you might be thinking, “I thought I had to get faith.” No, as long as you think you have to get faith you’ll never use the faith that’s been given to you.  Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”  Notice the word cometh, that means it’s given not earned.  When Paul was writing this he was talking about salvation.  Paul was saying that when we hear the gospel faith enters in and all we have to do is use the faith that’s been given.  It’s not faith that we need it’s an understanding or revelation of what faith can do.   Jesus told His disciples in Mark 11:22, “…Have faith in God” or have the faith of God; i.e. the faith which God gives.  The faith that God gives is Jesus Christ.  It’s with His faith that we can speak to mountains and command them to be cast into the sea (Mk 11:23).  And let’s not forget what Paul says in Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”  We live by the faith of Christ, His faith in us.

Therefore, all you need to do is use His faith, allow His faith to come forth in you.  Here’s a little something I like to do to help me when it comes to faith.  Whenever I’m reading a scripture where it says faith I say Christ.  This helps me to remember that faith is Christ in me and not something I have to obtain outside of Him.

Throughout this week let’s ask the Holy Spirit to give us a deeper revelation of what faith or Christ can do and let’s rest in Him to do it in our lives.  Faith is easy because faith is Christ in us.

Let Grace Supply!

2 Corinthians 12:9
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness…”

When we come to God for salvation we come totally depending upon him to save us.  We realize that we need a savior and that we can’t save ourselves so we look to Jesus Christ and the finish work of Calvary and we receive what He has done.

Well, the same way we come to God to receive eternal life is the same way we must receive all the blessings and promises that accompany our salvation.  Simply receive.  There need not be any effort on our part.  The grace of God is sufficient to meet our needs and to perform miracles in our lives.  Grace shows up in our weakness.  In other words, when you come to the end of your ability grace is there.  When you throw your hands up grace is there.  When you gone your last mile grace is there.  When you cried what seems like your last tear grace is there. When you’ve spent your last dime grace is there.  His strength is made perfect weakness.

Remember Elijah and the widow woman she was at her last when Elijah asked her to make him a cake first.  “And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse and, behold, I am gathering two sticks that I may go and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it and die” (I Kings 17:11-12).   When she completely let go and gave what she thought would be her last meal God’s grace sufficiently supplied for her, her son, and Elijah.

Child of God, His grace is sufficient for you today. Whatever the need, ask and then simply receive.

Not By Mite

Give, Might, Provide, provider, supply, Trust, Widow Mite

St. Luke 21:2-3

“And He saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.  And He said, of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all.”

Will you trust God with your last?  This widow woman gave all that she had to Jesus even though she needed it herself.  How was she able to do what the rich could not?  It’s simple, she saw Jesus as being more to her than what she possessed.

The rich saw their riches as more therefore they were not willing to give all of it to Jesus.  Remember the rich young ruler, “Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, yet lackest thou one thing; sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.  And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful; for he was very rich” (Luke 18:22-23).   Why was he sorrowful?  He saw what he possessed as being more than Jesus.

Therefore, until you come to know, understand and believe that God gave us Jesus and in doing so He gave us everything that we would ever need in an unlimited supply you will continue to live off of your mite and not His might.

Philippians 4:19 says “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”  God is not only able but He is willing to supply your every need and when you see that He is able and willing His supply will always super exceed your need.
