Proverbs 16:7

“When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”

The only way for our ways to please the Lord is that we surrender to His ways.  Surrendering to God’s ways causes not only our enemies to be at peace with us but it causes us to be at peace with ourselves. Here’s why, the Holy Spirit works in us and through us to get us to choose the way that will bring us into life therefore, when we fight that gentle tugging of the Holy Spirit upon our hearts we are not at peace we are actually at war within ourselves.  I believe for the believer it’s easier for us to do right than it is for us to do wrong.

However,  in order to please God we must  first  realize that our way is not the way to life.  Proverbs 14:12 says “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”  If we want our ways to please God we must humble ourselves and surrender our ways to His ways.   How do we do that? We do that by giving God priority in our lives.  Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths.”  Acknowledging God in all our ways means that there will be nothing that we don’t bring before the Lord.  I mean we must bring all our ways before the Lord.  I think we think that some things are to small to bring to God and that it’s a bother to ask for His way on such a small matter.  James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.  You see God doesn’t get angry or tired of us coming to Him and asking Him to show us His ways.

So why lean on your own natural mind to determine which way you should go, lean and rely on the Lord because not only will His ways lead us into life but His ways are ways that even the enemy can’t resist.  The ways of the Lord causes our enemies to be a peace with us.

Have you been trying to figure things out on your own? Are you feeling frustrated and worn out and confused?  Then let me ask you this, have you stopped to ask God to show you His way?
